The City of Creedmoor is pleased to invite the public to welcome Chief Troy Wheless to the Creedmoor commUNITY and offer farewell sentiments to Chief Keith King before his impending retirement mid-February. A community meet and greet is scheduled for Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Willow Oak Room of the Creedmoor Community Center located at 116 Douglas Drive. Residents will have an opportunity to interact with both Chiefs during this floating reception.
After almost 9 years with the Creedmoor Police Department, Police Chief Keith King announced his retirement, effective February 2023. Chief Troy Wheless joined the Creedmoor Police Department on January 2 and will be sworn in at the Board of Commissioners meeting on February 7 at 6:00pm
Chief Wheless began his law enforcement career with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office followed by positions with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicle, License and Theft Bureau. He then returned back to Franklin County Sheriff’s Office as Captain, where he supervised the Patrol Division, School Resource Officers, Courthouse Security and the Civil Division. Later, he was promoted to Major and assumed management oversight of the entire office, to include budgeting and human resource function. We are happy to welcome Chief Wheless to the Creedmoor commUNITY.
